Dieppe-World War Two

The Dieppe Raid was in the northern coast of France, on the 19th of august 1942; it began at 5:00am. There was nothing accomplished from the fight and the main reason for it was to seize and hold a majour port for a short period of time.
WW2
Canadians where mowed down by machine guns, the shot down soldiers where carried away with the waves as the tide came in. The setting was gruesome like, being so close to the water the grounds where muddy and broken down by the current and waves from the water.
WW2
During the battle, tanks ended up being sunk in deep waters and only around 15 of them ended up making it to the water line, but without cunductors it is pretty much useless to have them, so many tank workers who controlled them where imprisioned and or killed.
Many that died of wounds and/or where killed instantly, where Canadians. Many families looking forward to welcoming back the soliers were heartbroken to find out that thier loved ones had died during the battle, and many bodys that where close to the shore had been carried away with the waves; and some bodys where never found.

The war had lasted about 8 hours until they forfeited, almost 5 thousand Canadian troops went to fight, and over 900 fatal casualties where left to Canadian troops. The Germans had been practicing their anti-invasion tactics and methods, little did Canadians know that the Germans had been waiting for them the whole time. The battle was horrible, the men where killed before they even set foot on land, and if they did, not many got past the barbed wires.
